Compounding for Physicians

Stuart Ellis Pharmacy will work with you to ensure that the individualized needs of your patients are met.

Through our expertise in compounding we can prepare the correct dose of medication in a dosage form that your patient can tolerate. This will lead to improved adherence and better health outcomes.

Examples of compounding options available for your patients include:

  • Creating liquid formulations for pediatrics and others that are unable to swallow tablets or capsules
  • Creating liquid formulations to allow for slow titrations or specific dosages
  • Creating custom dose capsules for patients that cannot tolerate the commercially available dosage
  • Creating transdermal pain medications to limit systemic exposure and subsequent adverse effects
  • Creating transdermal creams for medications a patient cannot or refuses to take orally
  • Creating combination products to simplify a medication regimen
  • Creating bio-identical hormone products for patients wishing to take the “more natural” approach

If you are having difficulty with patient adherence or finding the right treatment for a patient let one of specially trained pharmacists offer advice and guidance.

Quality Assurance

We receive our compounding chemicals and supplies from PCCA. Prior to shipment to the pharmacy all chemicals are tested in-house at PCCA to ensure quality and purity. Each lot is tested using Infrared Spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible analysis, melting point, specific gravity, solubility and chemical identifications.

The staff members involved in compounding medications and the pharmacists at Stuart Ellis Pharmacy have all received ACPE (Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education) accredited Primary Compounding training conducted by PCCA.
